Current Report
The Gardner River is in peak fall form with excellent nymphing opportunities throughout the system. The browns are well distributed, making just about any section of the river worth exploring right now. Our top flies have been big stonefly nymphs, bushy caddis nymphs, and soft hackle Lightning Bugs. As we get further into the fall season, please be mindful of spawning fish and redds, and avoid walking or fishing on clean-looking gravel.

General Characteristics
- Water: Mostly fast-flowing pocket water, narrow (30ft wide).
- Terrain: Rocky, wymagaes rock-hopping for access.
- Access: Currently limited due to 2022 flood.
Fishery
- Diverse: stoneflies, grasshoppers, mayflies throughout season.
- Strong grasshopper season (late July-September).
- Warning: Major spawning tributary, watch for redds and avoid disturbing spawning fish.
Fishing Season
- Long season, potentially June 10th to last day (check regulations).
- Best after early spring runoff.
Recommended Access points
- Reduced access due to 2022 flood.
- Contact Yellowstone National Park for updates and accessible points (North Entrance Gate, High Bridge on Grand Loop).

- Requires advanced skills and physical fitness due to challenging terrain and fast water.
